Gallery walls are a decor trend that have stood the test of time - and with good reason!

They are a great way to fill up a large empty wall either at home or at your workplace - and they add so much character to a space.

Although starting out can seem intimidating, designing your own gallery wall can be a really straightforward and fulfilling process. Remember, there is no right and wrong approach here - so make it your own and most importantly, remember to have fun!

Build your gallery wall in 4 easy steps

Measure the size of your wall

It’s very important to know the size of your wall that you are dealing with before you kick off the planning process for your gallery wall. It informs the size and the number of the artworks that you choose - as well as the layout of the artworks on the wall.

Pick a layout for your artworks

Layout options for your gallery wall are endless! The two main directions are: Symmetrical or Organic. If you opt for the symmetrical format, you will generally features frames of the same size and arrange them into a grid of sorts. If you opt for an organic layout, the composition of your gallery wall will be asymmetric and potentially even evolve with time.

DECIDE ON A STYLE

Will you be doing a themed or unthemed wall? A themed wall means that the style, colour or subject matter of your artworks are similar or consistent across the whole wall. If you choose for an unthemed wall, then the wall will have a more eclectic feel to it.

4.

CHOOSE YOUR FINISH

Once you have chosen the artworks for your wall, it’s time to decide on the finish: Will you opt for the same frames, a selection of various frames or no frames (mounted artworks) for your gallery wall?
