Tinyiko Maluri Originals

Tinyiko Maluri is a Johannesburg-based mixed media artist whose work translates complex human experiences into striking visual narratives. Exploring themes of identity, resilience, and social systems, he uses symbolic storytelling to position art as both a reflective and communicative tool.

Born in Bungeni, Limpopo in 1980, Maluri began his artistic journey at a young age and later refined his practice at Artist Proof Studio, graduating in 2016 in Fine Art and Printmaking. Working across charcoal, pastels, and acrylic, his intricately layered pieces draw from personal experience while resonating with broader, universal struggles and triumphs.

His work has been exhibited locally and internationally, including at Keyes Art Mile, Sandton City, and World Art Dubai, where he received the Best Artist Award. Alongside his practice, Maluri is committed to community upliftment through art education. His current “Wheelbarrow Series” reflects on the human capacity to carry and transform life’s burdens—an ongoing meditation on endurance, resilience, and progress.
