Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Tayla was always surrounded by the vibrant beauty of nature.

Tayla spent countless weekends and holidays immersed in her grandmother's garden—sipping cold, colourful Bashew’s drinks, playing hide-and-seek, and observing how her grandmother paid unwavering attention to the flowers and birds that made her garden their home. Tayla often paints flowers in pots to pay tribute to the many pots that adorned her grandmother's garden, each year painted a different colour.

Those memorable summer days instilled a deep appreciation for colour, life, and the incredible complexities of nature. On grey winter days in London, Tayla finds herself longing for the warmth and vividness of her South African summers—a nostalgia that inspires each canvas deeply layered in a fusion of colours.
