Melissa Haiden Originals

Melissa Haiden is a contemporary artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa, working from her studio at August House. Her expressive paintings move between florals, landscapes and abstraction, capturing the colour, movement and emotion of the natural world.

Working intuitively in oil, acrylic, ink and mixed media, Haiden builds rich layers of colour and distinctive, calligraphic marks. Flowers, gardens, water and changing skies become starting points for works that feel both familiar and dreamlike, inspired by fleeting moments, remembered places and the beauty found in everyday life.

With a background in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town, Haiden brings a sense of instinct, movement and emotional immediacy to her practice. Her recent work explores beauty, memory, motherhood and place, resulting in vibrant, expressive pieces that bring colour, energy and a sense of story into a space.
