Mauritz Heine

Mauritz Heine is a South African artist who began painting in 2020. After initially experimenting with acrylics, he discovered his true voice in oils, a medium that allows him to infuse depth, richness, and atmosphere into his work. His focus is realism, with a particular passion for the interplay of fauna, flora, and the timeless beauty of blue-and-white Delftware porcelain still life's.

Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Mauritz has also lived in the Free State and Gauteng, before settling in Cape Town in 2022. Each place has shaped his perspective and, in turn, his art. Through his paintings, he aims to capture not only detail but also a sense of calm and wonder, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the quiet elegance of everyday life.
