Leonard Baloyi Originals

Born in Soweto in 1992, Leonard Baloyi is a contemporary South African figurative artist based in Johannesburg. Working across oil, acrylic, pastel, and charcoal, his emotive paintings explore themes of identity, human connection, and the complexities of emotion through expressive figures and vibrant colour.

A self taught artist, Baloyi was a Top 100 finalist in the 2017 Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards and has exhibited in Johannesburg, England, and Dubai. His work is also held in permanent public collections, including the Workers Museum in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Inspired by the rhythms of everyday life, Baloyi's practice offers a powerful reflection on empathy and the human condition, inviting viewers to reconnect with the emotions and experiences that unite us.
