INTRODUCING
Kobus Walker
Kobus Walker is a Pretoria-based artist, born in Rustenburg in 1971. He studied Fine Arts at Pretoria Technikon, graduating in 1992, and went on to collaborate with mentor Tivan van Dyk for nearly a decade on large-scale mural projects in London, Egypt, and South Africa—developing a strong command of scale and technique.
Since becoming a full-time artist in 2007, Kobus has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. His work is theme-driven, drawing inspiration from classical masters like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Klimt, as well as South African icons such as Pierneef and Tretchikoff.
Merging these influences with his own cultural perspective, Kobus creates contemporary works that invite dialogue—blending the past and present in a way that’s both thoughtful and visually compelling.
