Joseph Benistant

Joseph Benistant is a self-taught French-South African artist currently based in Cape Town, whose work explores the vibrant interplay of identity and cultural heritage. In 2024, his solo exhibition, Vernacular Binocular, at AITY Gallery in Franschhoek, South Africa, presented a captivating series inspired by his roots, and he has also exhibited with The Brass Table in Zurich.

Fascinated by the unspoken language of gesture, Joseph translates the movement of arms and hands into abstract forms that convey emotion without words. Working in acrylics, he combines bold colour, crisp lines, and playful experimentation to create a visual language that celebrates the expressive beauty of human interaction.
