INTRODUCING
Elzahn Nel
Elzahn is a visual artist and illustrator based in Prince Alfred’s Hamlet, a quiet town nestled between mountain ranges outside Cape Town.
Raised between the Boland and the Karoo, her work draws on the textures and tones of rural South Africa, brought to life through gouache, watercolour, and paper. She studied Fine Arts and refined her practice under Scottish artist Elsie Evans, who instilled in her a love for constant sketching — and the boldness to “just get on with it.”
Her style balances softness and strength, influenced by artists like David Hockney, Cornelia Parker, and Marina Abramovic.
Elzahn spent seven years living and working in Bangkok, where she exhibited widely and completed a residency at Tentacles Art Space.
Her work has featured in collaborations with House and Leisure, Chommies, Cherry Time, Kraak, Lounah, Festival of Dreams, Klyntji, Vorster & Braye, and Durbanville Hills.
